Game Boys Cinematic Universe was a real breakout show for us. As our fifth original stage show, we’d really started to gel as a team and came up with some really creative ideas. It also has perhaps the strongest wrapping of all our stage shows, being set on the backlot of the fictional ‘Game Boys Studios’.
Most notably, it also marked our first departure from shows primarily about video game content, and expanding into pop culture and nostalgia more generally. The element of ‘industry commentary’ always present in our previous shows continued, extending to the business side of Hollywood and movie making.
Game Boys Cinematic Universe is also our most awarded show with award wins and nominations at both Melbourne Fringe and Melbourne International Comedy Festvial. Following our win of the Market Ready award at Melbourne Fringe, the show was remounted into a touring version, and embarked on a tour of regional Victoria in 2022. It was our first time touring a show and we had an absolute blast.
